WATCHED: Documentaries on ZDF Mediathek, for example Essen auf der Überholspur which was about the global transport of fresh produce, which was incredibly interesting for me, as I work in food retail.:D
New Doctor Who episodes Deep Breath and Into The Dark.
READ: Again, I didn't get around to read any books, but I managed to keep up with the blogs on my reader.
LISTENED: La Belle Mixtape "Sunny Days" mixed by Henri Pfr
DONE: Got some paperwork done, cooked, baked banana bread, this time with dried physalis, which I had received as a gift from Hello Fresh – yum! Instant love! I like how physalis are sweet, but at the same time slightly spicy, which worked amazingly well for the banana bread.
Looked for hokkaido squash recipes on chefkoch.de, found them on Pinterest. Because, no, I don not believe the only dish you can make from hokkaido squash is soup. Nope.
I managed to walk the distance to the main station in 20 instead of the usual 30 minutes ... because that's the location of the only postbox which gets emptied on Sundays. Yup, I procrastinated again and nearly missed another deadline. I really need to stop doing that. Seriously. My life could be so much easier..
Been to the Caritas again. Cross your fingers, if things go well, I might have some much needed help soon to deal with things.
EATEN: Enchiladas, banana bread, zucchini casserole with rice pilav, honey roast peanuts & cashews, sandwiches, rollmops, chicken nuggets with saté sauce and rice. Sweets! Snacks! Meat! How I missed you!
Chicken nuggets with saté sauce, enchiladas stuffed with beans and beef, pbj sandwich on my way to work, banana bread
Zucchini casserole with rice pilav, banana bread and coffee break at work, late evening sandwiches and rollmops, enchiladas again
DRUNK: Coffee, cocoa, iced tea, orange lemonade, water
THOUGHT: "What, it's 2PM already?!" "What, tomorrow's already Thursday?!" "What, it's the 5th September already?!"
ENJOYED: The relief after I opened a dreaded envelope I had in my mail and actually getting some good news. I swear, I cried tears of joy. I laughed. I sang. For the first time in ... quite a long time, actually, I felt like a huge weight had been taken from me, and things were finally looking up again. That was, of course, until stuff at work happened.
LAUGHED: I'm pretty sure I must have laughed at something?
ANNOYED: As per usual, at myself, for making More Dumb Mistakes. Seriously, whenever I think I've done it all already, something new turns up. I know it's the anxiety, I know it's the depression. But still. Dear Subconscious, I get the message, kthxbye.
Saturday off next week getting axed as well.
Also, very annoyed at a bossy, knows-it-all acquaintance of mine, who also is a snitch. Karma, it will get you eventually.
WISHED: One week, just One Week, of Everything Going Right. Pretty please? Or, at least, me being able to keep track of time properly.
BOUGHT: Was a good girl and bought only food and stationary. And traded stuff on Kleiderkreisel.de (this is a flea market site of sorts, to trade/sell used clothes and cosmetics) to replace my broken Wet N Wild Comfort Zone palette. And I got the Wet N Wild Getting Sunburned palette on top!
PLAYED: A bit of Starbound. But no updates were happening on the nightly builds (for a reason, it turned out, though I don't understand any of it, lol), so basically I was still stuck without being able to fix my starships jump engine and getting bored quickly.
CLICKED: Check back in tomorrow, the post has already been written and scheduled. ;-)
Die neuen Doctor Who Episoden Deep Breath und Into The Dark.
Snacks! Fleisch! Ich hab euch sooo vermisst!
Zucchini casserole with rice pilav, banana bread and coffee break at work, late evening sandwiches and rollmops, enchiladas again
GEDACHT: "Was, schon 14 Uhr?!" "Was, morgen ist schon Donnerstag?!"
Neiiiiiin! Oh Gott, jetzt schon?! Giveaway Gewinn! Scheußlicher geht's nimmer ... oder?
Noooo! OMG, already?! Giveaway prize! It can't possibly get any uglier ... can it?
Kann ich leider nicht essen, wg. Allergie. KANN ich essen. Blüht auch im Herbst noch.
Can't eat, cuz, allergies. CAN eat. Still blooms in fall.
Ehrlich. :)
On the way back from the main station, would love that little car. Seriously. :)
Jaaa, Herbst!
Yesss, autumn! The Obere Webergasse early Saturday morning. Nature finds its way II – in my backyard, btw, right in front of the trash containers. It's a miracle they haven't been squished yet! Hazelnuts are ripe, unfortunately I'm not allowed to eat them. Allergies again.
Langer Spaziergang durch den Park im Nerotal
Took a long walk through the Nerotal park
Still the same park, and the Neroberg funicular railway – I should take a ride before it goes on winter break!
Immer noch spazieren ..
Still walking ...
Hortensien. Essbar, oder Ziertrauben? Gibt es Ziertrauben?
Am amazed these gumball machines still exist – this is one of the few which doesn't have the display protected with grating. Sunflower making up for the lack of sunshine. Hydrangea. Edible? Are there kinds of grapes which are decorative only?
A fantastically simple recipe, which is great for the autumn-y weather as of late. (Seriously, August? Seriously?) It's also very inexpensive, and vegetarian to boot. This recipe makes two servings, or keeps one hungry single (me) fed. It goes great with naan (Indian flatbread) and yogurt sauce. You can easily modify the recipe by adding chicken, or raisins, or ...
500 g potatoes
100 g red lentils
1 onion
2-3 carrots
1-2 Tbsp. red curry paste
200 ml coconut cream
some vegetable oil
some vegetable broth
Peel and dice the onion. Wash, peel and cut the potatoes into cubes. Wash, peel and cut the carrots into ca. 1 cm thick slices.
In a deep frying pan, sautee the onion with a bit of oil until they start turning transparent.
Add the red curry paste, let it roast for about a minute while stirring. A word on the curry paste. I always use "Spice Paste for Thai Red Curry Kaang Daeng" by the brand "Asian Home Gourment" which comes in small plastic baggies of 50 g. It is not quite as hot as the kind sold in Asian food stores, and contains far less salt and no preservatives. I have no idea if it's available outside of Germany. If I can't get it, I use the red curry paste from Asian food stores, which is hotter, and, meh, contains preservatives. What I never use is the "red curry paste" offered during Asia themed food special offers, but made by European manufacturers and adapted to the European palate. It just doesn't taste right, the ingredients listed are completely different from the Asian original, and it contains lots and lots of salt. Ugh. Nope.
Back to cooking:
Add the potato cubes and carrot slices, toss and stir some until the're evenly coated with the curry paste. Add coconut cream, place lid on pan, and let simmer on low heat. Occasionally give it a stir.
After about 10 minutes, add the red lentils, and let simmer for another 10 minutes while occasionally stirring. If you think there's not enough liquid, add some vegetable broth.
Give it a taste, season if necessary, and if the ingredients are still too al dente for you, let simmer for a bit longer.
Guten Appetit!
WELL, meteorologically speaking autumn already started early August, but now the calendar's actually caught up to the fact.
'Tis is my favorite season, not to cold, not too warm. I love the golden hue of the sunlight in fall, the leaves turning those rich, warm colors ... I love the morning fog and very much enjoy the wonderfully creepy feeling as I imagine to be walking through Silent Hill, all alone ... Weird, I know. Now excuse me, while I look for where I put the soundtracks, I need to listen to them, like, now. I love gathering chestnuts , acorns, pine cones, beech masts and colored leaves ...
Autumn, to me, is the season for candle light, for cooking up stews and casseroles and gratins, for taking long walks out in the woods, for indoor activities like visiting a museum or doing DIYs when I don't care to get soaked – all of this without the monochrome, depressing dark dreariness and bitter cold of the winter. I don't like winter. Really, I don't.
Speaking of DIYs, I browsed Pinterest some, and found these that are super easy to do:
How about you, is fall your favorite season as well? What do you like best about it?
DONE: Worked loads, but, I got some important stuff done and out of the way anyway, and am working on the rest of it. Slowly, but steadily. Taking deep breaths in between. Cross your fingers for me, I might actually get some help in dealing with all this shit I'm ... dealing with.
EATEN: Due to the depressing, dark, rainy weather (and lack of funds ...), loads of autumn-y comfort food! Fried potatoes with zucchini, parmak sucuk and black olives, potato curry with red lentils and coconut milk, pasta with red pesto, fried noodles, banana bread, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, oven-baked pancakes, mashed potatoes with sauerkraut, roast chicken with rice and saté sauce ...
DRUNK: Coffee, chai, iced tea, water, no name orange lemonade
THOUGHT: Ugh, where is the RESET button for my life?
ENJOYED: Enjoying a sunny morning with Mister H. at the farmer's market. That was, until my workplace called, because a co-worker had called in sick. Siiiigh. This was me:
However, while my financial situation is still very, very tight, it improved significantly.
Also, I got the cutest ever retractable powder brush for free at my local drugstore. How awesome is that?!
My preciousssss ....
Also, I signed up for a giveaway @ Das Jahreszeitenhaus a few weeks back, and I actually won something: A huge pile of makeup, yay! Lookit:
All mine! o.o
All of this will be shipped my way next week, I hope. *crosses fingers* This is a heaven-sent, because I wont have the money to spend on decorative cosmetics for a while now. It's as if the Universe is trying to make up some for the stressful time I'm going through. I'm especially excited about the "pixie epoxy" this set contains, which is a n eyeshadow primer specifically for pigments. I can't wait to try it all out!
LAUGHED: It's sad really, but I don't really remember laughing about anything ...
ANNOYED: At myself, as per usual. You're probably pretty tired of reading this ...
WISHED: That I was less of a procrastinator, not so terribly anxious about phone calls, and not so dumbfounded in a "WTF just happened? o.0" way whenever someone actually insults me/sets me up/twists my words and arguments around. Oh, and being witty is also on my wishlist.
BOUGHT: I've got a shopping ban on Pretty Things, because, well, food is more important? And being able to pay for rent, power, water, heating ... But I still had a small amount of money left on the voucher I received from my co-workers as a birthday gift, and I used up it on the perfect 2015 pocket calendar @ Nanu-Nana:
If this isn't perfect for me, I don't know what is, hahah ... XD
PLAYED: StarboundNightly Builds, basically an unstable beta, which is the most current WIP version of the game. I like it a LOT, since it's got tons of stuff added compared to the last stable beta. I really like the improvements made on the quest system, and tidbits like the ship AI, or the navigation showing the planets' weather. No more surprise meteor showers, yay! *fistpump*
Today I Die by Daniel Benmergui– a tiny, short flash game/interactive poem, which deals with suicidal depression. It really is kept very simple, very short, but by the time I beat it, I had tears streaming down my face, and I'm not ashamed of it. Dealing with depression myself, I was deeply touched by the game.
"Today I Die" by Daniel Benmergui
If you're stuck ... do something with the jellyfish. ;-)
"Today I Die" von Daniel Benmergui

Auf dem Arbeitsweg, nur zu wahr
On my way to work, truth ("luck is, when disaster takes a break")
DONE: Still too much work and too little free time, though right now I'm really glad about all the additional hours I'm clocking. I just hope neither my back nor my right wrist will give in on me ...
Had to make use of the counseling the Caritas offers for the second time this year. For a different reason this time around, albeit the two are linked. Cried a river or two. Did way overdue taxes. Learned how to make mashed potatoes, potato soup and how to bake my own bread. Lost 14 lbs in 3 weeks despite that, and still feel hungry a lot. EATEN: Wraps, baked romana lettuce wrapped in bacon, rice pilav, mustard eggs, simit (Turkish sesame rings) ... Dishes made from leftovers and out-of-the-pantry, for the most part.
DRUNK: Water, coffee, peppermint tea, rosehip tea
THOUGHT: As you have brewed, so you must drink.
ENJOYED: Last Sunday, when Mister H. invited me over for lunch, and afterwards my sister and niece "abducted" me to the theater to watch Saphirblau. After some very stressful weeks, this was just the kind of pick-me-up I needed. Also, a person I barely knew from Facebook, helped me out when I really needed it. Thank you. ♥
LAUGHED: At the little girl in the bus flexing her arm to show that she was This Strong. Wish I had your strength, little one.
ANNOYED: At myself, because the current misery could have been completely avoided, if only ...
WISHED: If only I could stop telling myself just how dumb I've been.
BOUGHT: Only food, and it's going to be like that at least until October starts.
PLAYED: Shadow Hearts
Yes, it's an RPG from the beginning times of the PS2, but imho one of the very best, despite its flaws. Love the humor, this game is poking great fun at itself and the RPG genre in general.
GEGESSEN: Wraps, Salatherzen in Bacon, Pilav, Senfeier, Simit (Türkische Sesamkringel) ...
30 days 30 doors challenge week 2, week 3 I still have yet to catch up to (just as so many other things, sigh ...)
Sonntagsspaziergang

Way home from day job, finally a butterfly which let me snap a photo, yummy blackberries, eye makeup with Catrice eyeshadow "Vanessa's Paradise" (which I like a lot better than their new petrol shade), and the lipstick "Spiked With Rum" by Wet N Wild
