Bead Soup Blog Party - And my Partner is ...

FIRST off, I'd like to offer a bit of an explanation to those who've never before heard of the Bead Soup Blog Party: 

It sort of is a secret santa for blogging beaders, planned and organized for now the 4th time by the fantastic Lori Anderson. Those who signed up (well over 300 participants this time!) are then partnered with another person from the list. Not at random, by the way, Lori does this all herself, taking into consideration the different beading styles (like, to pair a peyote stitch beader with another peyote stitch beader would be kinda boring) and so on. Then each participant gets their "bead soup" ready and sends it to their respective partner.

Each "bead soup" must contain a focal and a clasp (no boring lobster claws allowed), and a mix of beads in coordinating colors. Your partner then has to create a piece of jewelry using what you sent them. Now you don't have to use all of it - only the focal and the clasp are a must - but that would be sort of boring, wouldn't it? Especially as the idea behind the Bead Soup Blog Party is to get your creative juices flowing, break you out of your comfort zone and try for something new~!

When it is then time for the Big Reveal, everyone posts what they have created using the bead soup they received. I really enjoyed looking through the results of the previous Bead Soup Blog Parties - everyone is so creative with what they got! So I'm very, very excited to be a part of it this time.

ZUERST einmal, für alle diejenigen, die noch nie von der Bead Soup Blog Party gehört haben: 

Es handelt sich hier um eine Art "wichteln" für bloggende Perlenkünstler, nunmehr zum 4ten Mal organisiert von der fantastischen Lori Anderson. Alle die sich dafür anmelden (dieses Mal über 300 Teilnehmer!) kriegen dann aus der Liste einen Partner zugewiesen. Übrigens nicht nach Zufallsprinzip, Lori macht das komplett selbst damit sich z.B. die Stile der Partner nicht zu ähnlich sind, und auch nicht jeder international verschicken kann (oder will), und so weiter. Dann bereitet jeder Teilnehmer eine "Perlensuppe" vor, und schickt sie seinem Partner.

Jede "Suppe" muss  ein zentrales Element - d.h. Anhänger, besonders große Perle o.ä. - und einen Verschluss enthalten (langweilige 08/15 Karabiner sind übrigens nicht erlaubt), und eine Perlenmischung. Der jeweilige Partner muss dann aus dieser Suppe ein Schmuckstück zaubern. Das Zentralelement und den Verschluss zu nutzen ist Pflicht, die Perlenmischung kann, muss man aber nicht genutzt werden - aber das wäre ja langweilig, oder? Denn Sinn und Zweck der Bead Soup Blog Party soll es sein mal über den eigenen kreativen Tellerrand zu schauen und etwas neues auszuprobieren.

Wenn dann der große Tag der Enthüllung kommt, zeigen alle Teilnehmer in ihren Blogs was sie aus ihrer Perlensuppe so zusammengekocht haben. Mir hat's großen Spaß gemacht die Ergebnisse der vorherigen BSBPs anzuschauen - alle sind so kreativ! Und ich bin wirklich, wirklich begeistert dieses Mal mit dabei zu sein.

NOW that this is out of the way, it's finally time to introduce my BSBP partner - Sara Hardin, who hails from Arizona, USA. She is the Soft Flex® Company's marketing manager, which apparently means she does get around a lot - when she first contacted me, she was emailing from Seattle during her trip in Washington State to visit bead sellers. Check out Sara's blog post about her trip here, and do make sure to look at the extra photos she's linked. It's a very fascinating look behind the scenes, if all you know is the respective online stores. Seriously, if it had been me getting invited for a tour into Shipwreck Beads' warehouse, they'd been forced to carry  me out. Including the shelf I would have chained myself to.

Sara's blog, Soft Flex Girl is chock-full of free beading project ideas, there's book reviews, shops and designers introduced, the occasional giveaway, design tips and whathaveyou. You can also "ask Sara" and have your beading questions answered.

Going by her tutorials on the site of Soft Flex® Company Sara's beading style looks to be very colorful, very modern - just look at the design of hers which made it on the cover of September's issue of BeadStyle. It's like the the antithesis to my own which has "ANTIQUE" written all over. Which may be the exact reason Lori paired us up? 

In any way, I'm sure whatever "soup" Sara's sent my way will be ... "interesting". In a good way. I'm up to the challenge.

I really hope that she in turn will like what I sent her way - after I've seen what generous "soups" other people have received I'm quite honestly starting to feel a little intimidated.

NUN da das aus dem Weg geschafft ist, ist es endlich an der Zeit meine Partnerin vorzustellen - Sara Hardin, aus Arizona, USA. Sie ist Soft Flex® Companys Marketing Managerin, was offensichtlich heisst dass sie ordentlich in der Weltgeschichte rumkommt - ihre erste E-Mail zu mir kam aus Seattle, während ihres Besuches von mehreren Perlenhändern im Staate Washington. Den Post dazu gibt es  hier (allerdings nur in Englisch) - ich kann nur empfehlen  euch unbedingt die zusätzlich verlinkten Bilder/Fotos anzuschauen - ein sehr interessanter Blick hinter die Kulissen wenn man sonst nur die entsprechenden Online Shops kennt. Ernsthaft, wäre mir die Führung durch das Warenhaus von Shipwreck Beads zuteil geworden, man hätte mich raustragen müssen. Einschließlich des Regals an das ich mich angekettet hätte.

Saras Bog, , ist randvoll mit kostenlosen Projektideen, Buchrezensionen, Vorstellungen von Shops und Designern, gelegentliche Verlosungen, Designratschlägen, und so weiter. Außerdem kann man Sara mit Fragen übers perlen behelligen. 

Wenn ich mir so die Anleitungen auf der Webpräsenz von Soft Flex® Company anschaue die von Sara stammen, hat sie einen sehr farbenfrohen, sehr modernen Stil - quasi die komplette Antithese zu meinem eigenen, der ANTIK! geradezu in Großbuchstaben heraus schreit, noch dazu mit gedeckten Farben. Ich habe so den Verdacht das könnte exakt der Grund sein warum wir einander als Partner zugeteilt wurden?

Wie auch immer, ich habe keinen Zweifel daran dass die "Suppe" die Sara auf den Weg zu mir geschickt hat ... "interessant" sein wird. Das ist absolut positiv gemeint.

Ich hoffe ehrlich dass Sara mögen wird was ich ihr geschickt habe - nachdem ich einige der äußerst großzügigen "Suppen" gesehen habe die andere Teilnehmer bekommen haben, fühle ich mich - ehrlich gesagt - ein wenig eingeschüchtert.
